I know! It is a sue crazy world we live in today. In fact, I was on jury duty and the case was based upon someone who tripped and sued! They asked if anyone had personnal reasons for why they would not be a good juror. I raised my hand!
After lunch, the judge called me in after they had called two other people in for raising their hands as well. I went in and the judge asked me what my personal reasons were. I told him that I believed that the lady was clumbsy and was trying to make money off of her own inability to pick up her own two feet! LOL The judge smiled slightly and went back to the staunch look of his! LOL
I continued (of course) with the fact that lawsuits such as this is why everything is so expensive and why my dang taxes keep jumping! That, I was sick and tired of paying for everyone's mistakes or, money seeking! That was enough!
I was instantly dismissed and left that judge smiling with a tiny smirk as I believe he was thinking about the same thing! LOL

Because most of us dream of winning the lottery, either really, or in court. Rags to riches and all that.
What we don't realize, but what is becoming clearer with every job eliminated in this country, is that the only winners are the lawyers. They get rich and we get fewer jobs, fewer opportunities and higher prices.
Not all companies are swimming in cash, not all owners make millions. Lawsuits close companies and run jobs overseas. Just try and sue a Chinese company and see how far that gets you. From all accounts this was a freak accident, and accidents happen. I would also bet that the balloon company is owned by some poor Joe who will lose his company and his future. But hey, his lawyer and the survivor's lawyer will get to buy new vacation homes. Ain't life grand.
Our children are going to see reality plain and simple, higher taxes, lower wages and two classes.
The very, very rich...and the rest of us. And these lawsuits are helping to pave the road.

I understand the balloon incident, the pilot was an idiot.
What concerns me is the Islamic people that "set up" situations so they can make money, like the Imams at the airport. I am also concerned that the money they could make doing this will support terrorism. To me it is on the level of workers comp claims where they fake an injury.

I can see trying to get help with doctor bills but not for millions. Most of these people think the world owes them, they should be given everything without having to work.
