ALWAYS sleep in a pad, never a tampon.
Tampons carry a risk of TSS--Toxic Shock Syndrome. NEVER leave them in for more than 6-8 hours.

It's totally normal for it to feel a little weird. Once you get more used to them try pushing them in a little further. Once they are in all the way you honestly can't feel them. You many need to try a few different brands too. I find that OB tampons work the best for me. It is perfectly fine to sleep in a tampon. You do need to change it every 8 hours though. I know people who use tampons during the day and pads at night. I personally don't like to use pads & I only use tampons. It's really a personal preference and whatever you feel comfortable using. Make sure to tuck those strings in at the pool party =] Good luck!!

this is what I would recommend! I would sleep in a pad the first couple nights until your used to wearing a tampon during the day so you know weather or not your body is going to be ok with them and not get tss. Once you've used tampons enough and are used to them, you can sleep in them, make sure you don't leave it in for more than 8 hours tho!
I think pads are messy so I have been wearing tampons since I was 11yrs old! It took a couple times to get used to it but now its second nature!
As for the weird feeling its more than likely cuz your new at this. if it continues to feel this way, your using the wong size or its in worng!

Yes, it might feel a little weird (really, the string moving around bothers me more than the tampon). You can try a smaller size to make it more comfortable. It's best to use a pad at night, unless you usually wake up during the night and could change your tampon then, or if you only plan on sleeping for six hours.

It's better to sleep with a pad at night because it allows the blood to flow much more freely.
As for feeling a little bit different in there because of using a tampon for the first time yes it can be normal to feel that way. Also, sometimes that feeling can occur because it wasn't inserted right.

It's perfectly ok to sleep with a tampon in as long as it's not going to be in more than 8 hours. If you're planning on sleeping longer, use a pad.
If it feels weird you might not have it in all the way or be using the wrong size. Try a smaller one or waiting until you have a heavier flow. It might just feel weird because it's new.

It's better to sleep with a pad, but I don't. I can't stand them, they remind me of diapers and they are so uncomfortable so I sleep in tampons. Just make sure you change it as soon as you wake up and don't forget about it...and yes the first time you wear a tampon it will feel a little weird, but if it hurts it's not placed in correctly or if it feels down low then it's not up far enough.

there is still debate as to wether its safe to use tampons over night because of the risk of toxic shoke syndrome which is very serious. I change my tampons every 4 hours. I would recommend a pad for now and you shouldn't feel a thing when it is inserted correcrtly. If it feels weird your either using the wrong size or you inserted it incorrectly. for beginnners use the smallest size possible. Put one foot up on the toilet or a step stool and relax your muscles. Don't be afraid to ask a experienced woman(like mom) for more advise. Tampons take some practice to use.

you can sleep with either, but tampons should only be used for up to 8 hours.
No, it should not feel weird at all if you have it in right. Either try pushing it in further or buy a different brand. Playtex Gentle Glide is a plastic applicator that is easy to use.
You might need a smaller size, maybe try the tampons made for teens.

Yes it's normal for it to feel "weird". But do not, I repeat do not sleep with one overnight. It can cause serious problems, including toxic shock syndrome (TSS) which is a bad bacterial infection. Not to mention, you shouldn't wear tapons for an extended period of time in any circumstance for this reason. Stick with the pads at night--tampons during the day when you're awake enough to change them. You'll get used to them don't worry, even if it's just for that day.

Yes, it is completely normal to feel odd when first using a tampon. Just as long as it is not uncomfortable or causing you pain, continue to use it but change it every 6-8 hours to avoid bacteria build up, and never never go to bed with one in, use a pad at night.
