i agree that some things adults want to post and are valid questions to ask should not be posted since there are young people on Yahoo Answers as well but its not fair to adults who want to post certain questions and cant for fear of a violation of Yahoo Answers. sometimes people have been violated for things that were not too mature. i even received a violation for asking a question asking if you had any secret you need to get off your chest. now how was that a violation? i still havent heard from customer service on that one. anyways, what do you feel about my initial question?

Adults want their own place, kids want their own place. The only one who doesn't is Yahoo.

I agree their should be a site just for adults...kids should not be able to be on a site with adult questions/answers...sometimes a kid can ask a ? and you give a adult answer...next thing you have a V and your not sure why...come to find out some kids parents view there activity on Q/A's and decide whether or not it is an appropriate answer or not...but you on the other hand don't know it's a kid asking the question and need I not mention Y! has there own actually set of rules and regulations...so I say 18 and over and if you want to get down and dirty start a 360 page...because they know what they're doing on that site also you have my-space which is (the worlds space)

I agree they should divide it between kids and adults.

I read allot of post that contain material that is too mature for kids. I also read allot of posts that uses terrible language.

However, I am concerned that if they divide it then kids may not have a forum to get questions answered by adults since adults may not go into the kids section. For instance, a kid may want to know why is the sky blue. Other kids may not have the scientific background to answer this question. And adults may not log into the kids section. So their question may go unanswered.

Also, anytime you label anything on the internet as 'Adult' section people interpret that as porn. So people may respond accordingly. Then Yahoo may lose the sincere customers.

So I agree that they should divide it. But hopefully they can come up with a good strategy to divide it so that kids can get their question answered also and adults will have a safe place to feel comfortable to post mature questions and answers.

Most definitely. You should be able to have a choice. I have voiced my views on this before. I have nothing what so ever against youth but quite frankly, I really am not interested in the dating scene or talking about drinking. These questions should be for people in that age bracket. If the young people have a question for an older person, they should feel free to make it known they are looking for a mature answer. And for people in their own age group, they should have that option as well. As should the more mature individual who enjoys this site.

I'll 22nd that motion. It will be a benefit because since I do not have time to go through all the open questions hunting for a credible question that I am qualified to answer. I have to keep an active search for PTSD and "Post traumatic stress", in order to participate. With a new category of question I would probably see a lot more I am interested in. Good Work Sarge!

i disagree. if yahoo did do that, they would have to find a way to keep the adults out of the kids section, and the kids out of the adult section. the only way for that to work would be to only allow access based on the age you used to create your account. only problem is a lot of kids don't put their real age; yahoo thinks they're 100 years old. also, adults could sign up as 14 year olds, get into the kids section, and get information knowing the age range of the users. it would just be like a pedophile's dream.
you have a good idea there though, it's just somewhat flawed.

Perhaps the segregation of the ages would help filter out some of the more inane comments and questions from the serious ones. I have to admit, I get irritated sometimes when reading along and someone just puts down "IDK". I mean, come on, if you don't know, go to another question. Do I really want to answer a polls survey that asks "Does this guy like me?" I'm not saying that all questions and answers need to be intellectual milestones on the road of society, but a little more thought and effort, sometimes? Please? Maybe? Wow, I started to answer your question and turned it into a rant. No more coffee for moi. Thanks for your question, though!

I definitely agree with two separate areas. Some subjects are inappropriate for younger children. I find it very difficult to determine the age of most people on this forum because some don't say anything in their profiles.

God yes. I am so sick of having to decipher from real questions or does this boy like me or am I cute. I'm also sick of reading answers from children who are not helping others out. I know that the children benefit from us answering their questions but there is no need for them to view the adult questions
