I don't think Cleveland fans want to see the Chin in town any more than you do. And Cowher has pretty definately stated no coaching in 07-08. He is enjoying having a life with his family again. Was in USAtoday, I believe.(today) here is the link:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2007-08-29-cowher-status_N.htm
so as you can see, NOT an opinion, but an actual informed answer, taken from the words of the Chin himself.

I hope the organization is patient with Romeo. He will do a good job if he sticks around. I think the fans like him too, so you wont see the fan uprising of the Chris Palmer or Butch Davis eras. (2 years isn't really an era I guess.) They're bound to start off 2-6 or thereabouts, I hope they maintain the course and let Romeo work with the new talent that is there. Of course if they go 2-14, that's a problem.
In the event a change is made, I'd love to see Cowher in cleveland! Highly doubt it though. Hadn't heard the Marty rumor but it's never wise to try to relive old times (where they were always 2nd best anyway.)

Cowher is from Pittsburgh. The fans generally still like him, and why not, a great winning record - the best in the NFL during his tenure. He has a chance to be in the Hall of Fame.
Yes, he also has small ties to Cleveland, but to coach them would turn all of Steeler Nation against him. Its the Browns, so that chance at the HOF would be all but lost. Cleveland sucks, everyone knows it, Cowher, too.

I'd like to see him take over down in Dallass, seeing as they don't have a pro caliber coach leading those girl scouts. I personally don't think the Cowgirls would be able to stand up under Cowher's training camp, they're waaay too soft & as anybody can see, the only physical contact they like is off the field.. I guess Cowher wouldn't fit in too well there after all. He's used to coaching men.

I love rumor control. If Cowher does return to coaching it won't be for a couple of years. When he does, what ever team he takes will definitely turn out for the better. He is intense, loves the game and has the knowledge to spot talent and utilize it. Keep in mind, just because you have talent doesn't mean you win Super Bowls. Just ask Mary Schottenwisenheimer. But Bill "muscle chin" Cowher doesn't have that timid way about him that Mary S. does.

I find it doubtful. Cowher may come back to coaching someday but not only after one year of retirement. Give him a few years in retirement, let him get the itch back to coach again, and maybe we'll see him coach another them, whether it's the Browns or not.

It would be stupid to fire the coach midseason. At least wait till the end of the year. Any hope you have of winning another game goes out the window as soon as you change coaches midyear. It is just too tough on the players.

If Cowher wasn't having fun with the super bowl winning steelers, what makes you think he would have fun in cleveland.
