Yes, i've seen this many times. Check with your dealer, we've been able to take some back on warranty because of bad wear. I think it's the tires problem, and i'm not sure which the bridgstone or the conte, but i know the noise, it's horrible. See if your dealer will do something. If you have low miles on the car, and the dealer can't do anything, call bmw and corporate and complain, it's a bad tire.

Noisy tires can be cause by 2 primary reasons.

- Thread pattern; nothing can be done but to change it to a different tire.

- Uneven wear - "cupping" causes really loud annoying road noise. Could be caused by bad alignment or bad suspension.

Either way, since your car is still rather new and likely be still under warranty, send it back to the dealer.

I wouldn't worry about the engine. I have one of these which has 170000 miles on it and there have been no problems with the engine. The transmission is another matter. Some go 120000 miles and some go twice that. I would also worry about the all wheel drive. It adds complexity and is expensive to fix if there is a problem. Additionally, the price seems high to me.

Check the tire pressures. They could be overinflated which could cause them to warp and make a lot of noise. Also, if you have low profile tires those tend to make more noise than standard tires.

I never really had any issues with my Continental stock tires (high performance summer tires). But I've since switched them for Pirelli PZero Nero M+S (high performance all season tires) and they are quieter than the Continentals. You might want to try them out. I'm on my second set and they last longer than summer tires.
