only if a hitter realizes that they need to hit more than just home runs. a good young hitter could break it if they study
how guys like rose, ty cobb and ted williams hit. they all had exceptional eyesight(teds was said to be 20/15). other than that porbably not in our lifetime.

Yup and that man's name is Derek Jeter. He is currently at 2,317 hits which is 1939 hits short. Jeter is currently 33 years old. In each of his last 11 season Jeter has gotten 150 hits or more and he is on pace to have a 200 hit season this year. Excluding this season Jeter has had 11 complete seasons. In those seasons Jeter has average approximately 194 hits a season. Jeter has never had any serious injuries in his career so I doubt that any will come up in his future playing days. If Jeter can average 194 hits until he's 44 he will have broken Pete Rose's record. Now I am not saying this is a definite but if anybody has a chance to break Pete Rose's record it is Jeter.

Jeter, as noted, does have good numbers for it so far. Rodriguez's chances are slightly better, as he is younger and will also have the motivation of beating the HR record.
But for anyone to do it, they almost will certainly have to play into their mid-40s.
And yes, I think if Ichiro had started here, he would have a shot. He hits for a high average, he is a conditioning nut, and his lack of walking would actually help in accumulating hits. Bases on balls might end up hurting Rodriguez a bit.
On the other hand, Rose had a lot of singles and not much else (little power, not that great a job in OBP, didn't even steal much). There are other records which mean much more.

records are made to be broken. Suzuki if he'd performed his total profession interior the US fairly of Japan ought to nicely be last on that record. So even earlier Rose died there has been a guy who would have accomplished it. Babe Ruth concept the record of his that could stand the longest wasn't any of his hitting records. It became into his scoreless streak interior the WS and alongside comes Whitey Ford to interrupt it then Mariano Rivera breaks Whitey's record. is going to coach you procedures fragile a record is. On acceptable of that ameliorations to the activity and how that's performed could have a substantial effect. communities return to small ball you spot extra adult men like Pedroia interior the league and much less Ryan Howards. for this reason fewer HRs, greater BAs and extra adult men racking up hit totals. final year there have been 8 adult men with a hundred and fifty+ KOs and purely one in all them had extra hits than KOs. it extremely is a key clarification why not many gamers are starting to be one in all those super form of hits right this moment. they choose the money and acceptance of hitting HRs and thats all they care approximately.

Probably not. I'm not even sure anybody will ever get 3,500 hits again. However, had Ichiro come straight to the "bigs" at 20 or 21, he may have broken Pete's record?

They say that they think Derek Jeter will get 4,000 hits, but my opinion might be A-Rod. He's got about 2,100 hits and if he plans to break Bond's record, then he's gonna get a lot more hits. He is also only 32 years old.

Yes. Except where the game has changed a lot (eg pitching rotations that let Cy Young win 511 games) there are no unbreakable records. They will all fall someday.
