You need to install a voltmeter across the battery to see what the voltage of the system is. If it is at around 14.3 volts or close to it, you most likely have a cluster problem. If the voltage is low across the battery, check voltage at the alternator connecitons. If they are about the same as the battery was, the alt. has had it and needs to be replaced which is fairly normal. Goood luck.

This question is strangely worded and hard to understand. If your volts gauge is reading low, pop the hood and check the volts at the battery with then engine running. It should read between 13.6 and 14.4, if it isn't, then your alternator isan't giving the charge it should be.

Also, you may want to check the grounds. I've herd of the gauges going out due to the lose grounds.

Or if, this is a frickerin of the lights and/or gauges. It may the normal condition of the air pump kickin on. If, it is happening just after startin the truck up.

Good luck!

first check your alternator fuse in the box under the hood if you have a fuse. my dodge blew the fuse and it still charged fine although the gauge wouldn't show what it was charging too. so i fixed the fuse and now the guage works.

alternator maybe getting ready to stop working
best thing to do is pull it out and take it too a parts store and have them check it.
