I've changed my major for undergraduate school three times: from Chemistry to Print Journalism to Art Education. I think I want to do Education, but can't decide between Art and English. I'm leaning more toward Art, but I've realized if I were an art teacher I would probably have to choose the place I live by the place I could find a job since art programs are being cut in most schools and there are only one, maybe two, teachers of the subject per school. English teachers are much more needed, from what I understand. Maybe I could just get an English or an Art degree, but I have no idea what I would do with either. I've already wasted three years and A LOT of money trying to figure out what to do. I'm hoping someone has some insight on the subject. Please help!

you probably hate hearing this, but ultimately you have to be the one to decide which direction is right for you. if you can't decide, why not do both? that way if you can't find a job as an art teacher, perhaps you can find one in english.

If you want to be able to find a job in education I would recommend math or science. English and history teachers are available in greater supply (I can't imagine why. I'd get sick if I had to teach those subjects!) and as you realize art is an area that schools will deem expendable when the money becomes scarce. So, go into education and become a chemistry teacher. Let art be your avocation.
