Varicoceles are usually on one side only. They have been implicated in reduced fertility. But surgery to remove the varicocele does not always result in successful fertility. It is a controversial area where supposed experts are in disagreement.

Personally, I would postpone surgery. But I would recommend consulting a pediatric urologist for a second opinion.

i have got treatment for varicele just a few moths ago. i am 27 and i was carrying my right ball veyr large sine 12 yera age. but the operation caused no problem to me at all. i am just thinking why i havre not undergone that surgery a long ago and took a great pain for 15 yeras. do it now its not young or small., variocele can be treted in age of six without any danger an d12 is too safe. dont let your son feel the pain of testis for delaying it. its a very short operation and your son will be running after 10 days. dont afraid go for it immediatley.

another type of variocle that is called hydrocele is found in infants that is trated at age of 2 years. so you son cannot get any harm being of 12 years
