JAVA (used to be SUNW) is a large company with millions of shares traded every day. And it's stock price moves up and down well. If you make the right predictions about it's price movements, then you can make good profits.
LVLT is also a reasonably large company with millions of shares traded every day. And it's stock price moves up and down well too.
The only problem with $5 stocks is that some brokerages don't allow you to short stocks that are below $5 dollars. Which means that if the stock price is $4.99 and you think that the price will go down even more. Then you won't be able to profit from it because your brokerage won't allow you to short it.

Why are you looking for a $5 stock? Almost none of them are good investments. They are that cheap for a reason. You would be better off owning one share of a $100 stock than 20 shares of a speculative $5 stock.

Buying cheap stocks is a good idea, if you do it right.
Value stocks - stocks which are out of favor because they are in deep doo-doo - generally sell at a fraction of their true value, because nobody wants to touch them.
And, in fact, many of them will go pfft and leave you holding the bag. On the other hand, some of them will recover. Edward Lampert made a massive killing by buying Kmart while they were in bankruptcy.
So instead of buying one stock, buy many. Invest in a small-cap value index fund.
