is never and necessary a noun?
what is "later"?
is when an adverb? no idea...
i realize turned is a verb but when it is put in a sentence as "turned out", what is it?

If you can put "a, an, or the" in front of it, it's a noun. "the never ending song." Which word goes with "the"? Adverbs answer specific questions: when, where, how and to what extent.
Words that have the suffix "ed" to indicate past actions are verbs. The majority of verbs are action words. "Turned" and "out" are 2 diff. words and 2 diff. parts of speech, therefore.

later = adjective
when is not an adverb
turned out is a phrasal verb.
