It's a term used to be a term used by gay men to signal their newest hook up(their trade). But has spilled over into the hetero world, and usually only used by a woman or gay man, when referring to their new man.

I don't men and gay women call their woman a trade. Because they were referred to as "Fish".

A specific skill one has, and in the "old days", a blacksmith would 'trade' his skill and service for another, such as a homebuilder. The blacksmith would make some horseshoes and iron wheel rings and 'trade' them for the service of a homebuilder to repair his roof.

I don't know what it means when someone calls another their "trade." It must be a slang I haven't heard yet.
