Get yourself a moisture meter. They sell them at any hardware store or nursery. They are about $5 and when you stick the probe in the soil it tells you instantly if it is wet or dry. Save a lot of plants and some water.

That depends on how big your plant is. Typically you water when the top 3-4 inches of soil is dry. Water thoroughly and let the excess water drain from the pot. I usually have to water weekly.

Not a lot! If it is in the house it is protected from extremes in temperature, So once a week, or when the top1/3 of the soil is really dry
