Haven't heard that - I think it's a myth. I think they will always be "in" with those who have money to spend on them. I like sites like Search By Inseam that allow you to search by price range so you can shop for designer jeans or not. Second link below is a post I just did on how much people spend on jeans.

Well,expensive designer jeans were never really "in"
Just get what fits you right and what matches your body type,your style,etc..
I hate expensive jeans,I wont spend more than 40 dollars on a pair.

jeans are jeans. if they fit/look good, wear them.
you can get the most wicked pair for 20 bucks and end up paying 200 for crap that falls appart the next day. quality, well knit clothing speaks for itself -- maybe theres a reason why certain brands dont have their logo plastered all over their clothes.

Who cares? I wear what I like and overpriced jeans with some rich dude's name on them is not something I care to wear.
