The asterisk (*) is sometimes used to denote multiplication, like the x sign or parentheses. In this case, 5 * 60 * 60 = 5 x 60 x 60, or (5)(60)(60), or 5 times 60 times 60, or 5 times (60 squared). [Notice I put the parentheses around the 60 squared because if I didn't, it could mean (5 x 60) squared, which would result in a different answer.]

So, 5 * 60 * 60 = 18,000

hence, 5*60=300
300*60=18000
