I know, it is very wrong of him to do such a horrible thing but come on now, does he really need to be hanged???
How about when some pervert rapes a child multiple times and gets house arrest and counsleing???
Or when some guy beats his wife so hard and lets her lie on the floor, dieing in her own her own blood.

I just don't get it how people get mad over dogs and act as if an actual human being deserves to be treated the same, even worse.

dixie48(#9).... I see that you are very passionate about this. But I ask you to put all race and stereotypes aside and lets speak as grown woman here, ok??? no name calling.
Lets me remind you that I am not saying that this situation should be dismissed as if it never happened. I am saying that I don't believe that protesters should go as far as the death penalty for this. Lest us all remember, this is a human being.
When actual humans get tortured, I don't see it being publicize this much. But yes, he is a celebrity.

No. It brought it to life for the American public that this is going on. The outrage was necessary for it to be stopped.

A dog will protect you from harm, it will and has substituted itself to save humans. (case in point, a farmer was tilling his field and his son was in the field with the dog. The dog saw the tractor coming towards the young boy so the dog thrust itself in front of the tractor and died. It worked, the farmer ran over the dog and came short of running over his son.)
Dogs are loyal, (there is a statue in Japan of a dog that went with his master every day to the bus station. When the owner came back from work, the dog was there. One day, The bus left and the owner of the dog died and never returned. The dog waited for 15 year until it died. The statue is called "loyalty" and is made in that little dogs image.

A dog is your best friend and doesn't judge you.

Here's a shoe on the other paw story: How would you like to be one of Vick's pit bulls that just arrived at his kennels, being choke-chained for not attacking a little dog used as training bait (that has his mouth taped shut and is helpless). Then when you finally learn that you will be choked to death if you don't chew the throat out of the little dog -you rip up it's body and EAT it because that's all you get to eat! Then, what is your reward...You have to fight FIERCE "teeth gouging" pit bulls over and over again and even though your face is hanging and half chewed off - you must win or DIE!, because If you lose and don't die, you will have a slow "drowning" death - where you will be weighted down and held under water while the powerful hands of man (whom you trusted) hold your nose and mouth and there is no air and there is no hope and there is no help and your innocent life is slowing fading and your legs are kicking and flailing and your lungs are bursting, all the while to the cheers of the spectators for their entertainment jollies.

That's torture my friend. Psychologists say these people are dangerous to humans as they have been desensitized and have no compassion. Anyone that makes an excuse (NAACP & Vick fans) for inhumane treatment of animals are just as sick, just as sadistic, and just as cruel and just as dangerous!

Well, I hope you got your answers from all these posts and looking at the thumbs up and thumbs down.

You and a handful of black racists (most who can barely read or write and use profanity galore when giving their opinion)are the only ones who feel this case is being exaggerated.

Those other things you mention ARE horrible, and there are many organizations working to make a change so people who commit these types of crimes pay a higher price that what is the norm in our courts today. It is sad, but the truth of the matter is if there were protests for every raped child, beaten wife, etc, there wouldn't be enough of us to go around. It happens so frequently that protests are absolutely meaningless, it is best that we all lobby for stricter laws and longer sentencing for those who commit these terrible crimes.

Now,it's not everyday that you hear of dogs being beaten, starved, drowned and fought by a millionaire who could participate in any hobby or pastime that he chooses, and his choice is sadistically killing and torturing dogs. Because his exorbitant income is derived from the pockets of NFL fans, we all feel like this is something WE can do something about. Many of us do NOT want one red cent of our money going into the pocket of this monster.

As for your comment about seeing all white people protesting Michael Vick, you had to see the pro-Vick protesters who were mostly black. Why would they support a dog killer and torturer? I think you know as well as I know. It is understandable that people would protest against a celebrity who has committed such heinous crimes, but why aren't you questioning those who support the monster?

However, you should know, that not ALL blacks are supporting Michael Vick. The day that the Atl chapter of the NAACP came out in support of Vick, the very next day the National Pres of the NAACP made a statement that Vick was wrong and he should face his punishment. A few weeks ago the SCLC made a statement that they supported Michael Vick and were going to honor him in a ceremony the following week. The very next day they came out and said they would not be honoring Michael Vick. Why do you think this happened? Because Black Americans everywhere deluged their offices with phone calls and emails saying THEY did NOT support Michael Vick, that they wanted their organization to support those who were worthy of the support and they didn't consider Michae Vick to be worthy.

Below you wil find a link with a story about a black organization that held a rally in support of Michael Vick. Read the comments directed at the person who organized the rally. The comments were made by black people, and they are outraged and ashamed that this organization that is designed to help blacks would even consider supporting Michael Vick.

So before you determine this thing is drawn along racial lines, you should do some research. Yes, there are a handful of blacks who are supporting Michael Vick just because of his color, these people are easy to recognize because they spout every pathetic excuse from the race card to 'its just dogs' to 'well we kill trees'.

If there is a racial tone to this tragedy, it is definitely racial because there are a few blacks who will support any black celebrity no matter WHAT they have done.

Yes, you are. But if you actually sit down ,and read the facts, you will figure out that Vick is getting off way easy, on the legal side. As for the endorsement, or contracts....thats his own fault for violating the terms of conduct he signed to, when he was hired by the NFL. (remember, it's a job like any other, and Employers everywhere have the right to determine corporate policy)

Miss, you seem sincere. Feel free to click on my Avatar, and check my other answers to this question. I also recommend you read those from Justice, Dogsrspcl and a few others. I believe I have posted over 100 Vick related answers, and Try to be unbiased, and absolutely avoid the race card in either direction.

and fortunately, the protestors outside of the courtroom (and the Vick supporters too) represent the Vocal Minority of the representative peoples. I would hate to think that the entire white population was that overboard, or that black culture on the whole, would find deliberate cruelty acceptable. Neither culture is being truly represented by the Mobs at the courthouse.

He shouldn't but probably will get a second chance to play in the NFL when he gets out of prison and serves his suspension out. The fact that he was living the american dream and threw it away over dogfighting is the reason the media and america keeps talking about it.

The real fun is going to be when he starts talking to the feds about who else was or still is involved in dogfighting. I think there are alot more players involved in this than just Vick.

The reason people care isn't because the media is pushing it on them, it's because every once in a while, somebody in a position that others dream of being in, does something so horrible it shocks the collective conscience of the country. Some things -such as the slaughter of cows- might bother some and not others, but it's generally accepted and legal. I thin kwe can agree on that. Dog fighting is not only illegal, but seen by most people as sick and unnacceptable. Add to that the fact that dogs were hanged, electrified, and beat into the ground until dead. There's such a disregard for life that it is shocking. That's why this is different.,, human life is worth so much more, but this is a celebrity.. kinda like OJ,,, alot of people kill, but that was OJ... anyways. to each his own.

I agree with you there... kinda. Well, honestly, I don't think he should be given any lighter of a punishment than people suggest. But I think other people who do the same thing to humans or such deserve just as bad of a penalty. But, personally, do you think dogs should be treated alot less well than we are? I mean, you actually understand when someone's beating you, what's going on, and that you need to protect yourself. You can feed yourself, you know when you don't want to fight, and you don't have to. But the dogs didn't get that. They didn't understand when the closest thing they ever had to love and a family was someone who forces them to fight and beats them to death when they lose. And the only way that dog get any affection is when it wins. I'd want to kill the sick s.o.b that did that to a child too. Or an adult, what he did is wrong, and when you find a mansion with 50 children penned up that don't understand what's going on and were forced to fight and are starbed and beaten. Yeah, Michael Vick will almost seem like an angel to me compared to the person that does that. But, what he did was bad... really, really bad.

He broke the law. He needs to be kicked out of football along with any perverts such as child molesters, spouse beaters and rapists. What he did, animal or not, was very wrong. He is supposed to be a role model for kids/people in general. What's overrated is the money these people make and the prices we have to pay to go see them!!!

yes you are cause it was absolutely evil and sick not one dog mind you but at least 66 known of! they were hanged, drowned, beaten and electrocuted to death if they did not fight or kill viciously enough for Vick and the others who were betting money and fighting their own animals as well! is it entertainment to watch a animal eat another animal alive? can you even imagine how gory and sick that is! or how sickening it would be to see! these animals hurt and bleed just like you and i do! there is no good reason on this Earth for this to ever happen!! check your facts many serial killers and rapist start out killing and abusing animals!!! it cannot be allowed or tolerated!! if you think so how would you feel if one of these poor abused animals were to escape the horrors of where they live and attacked you or your child on the street because some thug and hoodlum trained the dog to be a killer!!! shame on you there are no excuses and many victims!!!

I disagree. All of the crimes you listed are horrible and deserve to be held up as examples of what NOT to do and how NOT to behave. The Michael Vick thing is getting a lot of publicity for obvious reasons, he's a celebrity - however, being a lover of dogs I'm glad it's getting publicity so that hopefully some public outrage can be generated to bring attention to this heinous behavior.

I think you're drawing the wrong conclusions - the people who get mad about dogs dying are the SAME people who are upset about abuse when it happens to people.

It got overplayed because despite the terrible crimes Vick committed, many black racists and some morally bankrupt white people were still sticking up for him. All sane people were blown away by this. Everybody in America no matter what color should have wanted Vick in prison for the sick sh*it that he did.
