Tons of people on here say they didn't like the end and they thought it was a cop-out and things like that. And people I actually know say things like they think Harry had to die, or should have died. I think the ending was great. I thought everything came together well (except maybe the epilogue, but I can deal with that). Why do people think he should have died?? I mean, come on, all the misery (the Dursley's period) the kid went through, Never knowing his parents, losing Sirius and Dumbledore. Don't you think he deserved a little happiness in the end? Oh well, it is just a book.

In regards to eragon's answer - I thought it was neat that all Harry had to do was say expellaramis (can't sp that) I knew Voldemort had to die but I never wanted Harry to have to become a murderer, I thought it was perfect that Voldemort basically ended up killing himself.

I totally agree with you! I just knew Harry wasn't going to die. Some might think I am making this up but I could just tell that part of Harry was a horcrux. And THAT was what was going to die in the end. I loved the book and didn't mind the epilogue.
I also felt like there was something heartbreaking about Severous Snape, like there was some tragic romance or something of the sort in his past.
I think J. K. Rowling ended the book wonderfully. I absolutley loved them :)

For me, the ending was a shocker at first (Harry marrying Ginny and having kids by her and Ron marrying Hermione), but then I realized that the ending was one that was open-ended, in my opinion.
A little bit further back from the book's ending, the Death Eaters who were not captured and sent to Azkaban ran off and went into hiding after Voldemort's defeat and in my opinion, the way in which J.K. Rowling ended the last book in that series was one that gave her the option of writing an eighth Harry Potter book, should she decide to do so in the future.

Yes, I dont really fond at the epilogue, but overall it's great. I dont want Harry to die, I like happy ending and yeah, after all the things that happen in his life, he deserve a happy ending.
I guess people hoping for something different from the usuall happy ending for Harry Potter since the first book it always show lot of suprise and unpredictable things

Fred died.. I hated it... Okay he had to die for t to be emotional.. but his death is going to make my opinion very biased lol. I didn't like the battle scene I have to say. It was just too easy for Voldemort to be killed them, it wasn't a duel, it was "sheer dumb luck" that worked in Harry's favor. And how it just ended... with Harry fixing his wand.. I guess I wanted more, closure lol. Who else died? How did Harry and Gin every get back together? Does George still run his business alone? Is George alive!?!?!?! So many questions left unanswered. Although I loved the Snape and Lily thing I knew he was good! I knew it!...ahem.. anyway. I guess I just expected something different.. I prefered the endings some fanfic writers came up with.

My opinion is kinda mixed. The whole happily ever after thing was kinda disapointing. After 7 books of terror and suspense it all ended with happily ever after. Also, the media and stuff talked about main charaters dying. Ok Fred was a main character but i thought they were refering to Harry, Ron or Hermione. Kinda disapointing that they all lived although i love them. But that disapointment was created by the media. I so don't get the whole "limbo" thing with Dumbledore and The baby. so if someone could explain that it would be great. Im really sad that its over though. 10 years of books to look forward to and its all over. I grew up with Harry and its awful that he's done.

I guess because I write, I'm a bit more opt to defend an author's right to end a book the way he or she chooses--so to answer your question I didn't have a problem with the ending. I'll miss Fred; I don't agree with the tendency to kill off a twin because you've got another character there just like them---but that's probably because I have twins in real life and they're anything but expendable--or interchangable if it comes right down to it.
I'd have liked to see more detail in the epilogue but I dunno, after 7 books maybe she felt it was time to stop.

I would agree with you in terms of Harry being alive. But i didn't like the part when Harry was supposed to battle with Voldemort. Because he just used expelliarmus which is a spell used only by children. It is only a simple spell. But he used it against voldemort. In that part, i was expecting curses and counter-curses but they only circled each other. That part was quite boring. But i don't want harry to die.

Everyone hates it because they expected something better than a happily-ever after ending from Rowling. Everybody is so sick of happy endings and crap. Everything ends with happy. WHERES THE SAD?! No one has the balls to kill off, maim, bankrupt, or sicken anyone anymore.
And for that, I admire Shakespear.
