IIt depends how old and what kind of postcard, but for most of them being used doesn't matter. Condition of the card is more important(bent, torn, etc.) It also depends on the kind of card, what it shows, who printed it, and so on. There are all kinds of specialty collectors out there. I mainly collect greeting postcards from the early 1900's. I'm guessing you're talking about picture postcards from vacations etc. I don't know too much about those. If it's they're pretty common cards they won't be worth too much. If you check on ebay, they have a postcard section you can scroll through to look for similar cards to yours to get an idea of value (probably would be a little on the high side). Some cities have postcard shows once or twice a year with lots of collectors. You might try checking with your local library. Sometimes they have fliers or know of collector clubs they could hook you up with to find someone one who could help you find a buyer or tell if they're worth selling.

It it's a rare type of postcard, or features a subject that the collector has a very strong personal interest in, then they might consider buying it used. But the vast majority of collectors prefer cards that are postally unused. No stamps, no handwriting, no cancellation marks.

i dont think postcard collectors would want used ones cuz they wouldnt know the person in the postcard.
