I would say that there are a lot. All of the Norwegian bands are very good (Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth, Immortal, Mayhem, Cradle of Filth, Satyricon, etc) but I like Children of Bodom. They're more melodic black, but they're my favorite.

define TRUE black metal...........
Even though they have had commercial success I still consider Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir as black metal.
I try not to get hung up on what genre a band belongs in . You know metal when you hear it.
