It means that the Roe v. Wade that was wrongly decided (according to Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg) might get rightly decided.

If a conservative Republican is elected in 2008, then it is very likely that the balance of the Court will swing irreversibly to the conservative side for many decades to come.

In short -- any concept of reasonable civil liberties or personal freedoms will be lost for at least the next two generations. Govt control will continue to increase, and personal rights and liberties will continue to be stripped away even faster.

If a liberal (of any party) is elected in 2008, the balance of the court will not change, and things remain status quo.

There was an article about this on Findlaw (link below).

It means that it is important to elect a Republican president so that we can put a strict constructionist judge on the Supreme Court. With one or two more conservative, constructionist judges on the court, they can overturn Roe v. Wade and other decisions by liberal activist judges who usurped the power of Congress, and ultimately, the people of the USA!

Cora, your answer sucks. Let the people decide whether or not they want abortion to be legal, or whether our govt should mandate racial and sexual preferences, not the judges! Power to the people, not the judges.
