dogs ears are much more sensitive then ours, so whispering in his ear, could be like talking normal to him and would wake him up. Other people, I would think would depend if your able to wake them up enough to know what your talking about. In order to affect their dreams you'd have to get into their sub-conscience.

It will affect some people.. once in a while when my girlfriend was sleeping, I'd pretend to 'call her' with a problem with my cell phone. We both worked at a call centre supporting cell phones, and she'd mumble answers to my questions.. It was funny as all hell for me..

haha. Well, when you hear somethink while you are dreaming, it usually goes into your dream, as if you had that sound just put in your dream randomly. But not all sounds are transmitted into your dreams, such as people snoring next to you and a soft background noise.

How can it not affect them? But what are you whispering that terrifies your dog? Try sweet nothings next time, OK?

You are more likely to get a fist in the face than you are to influence a dream.

Yes. It does effect dreams. Any sensory input will have an affect on someone sleeping, or awake.

Sometimes, but because people often forget their dreams when waking up, it may seem like there was no effect.
