My Dad had pretty strange looking cars. One had a pointed nose like something out of a Buck Rogers space movie. Wish I could remember what type it was.

Neither of my grandparents ever owned an automobile. The first car I remember my dad owning was a 4 door Plymouth sedan from the late 30’s. I remember him bragging about the ground clearance. At that time in Alabama there were a lot of poorly maintained rural roads with deep ruts. Adequate ground clearance was an important feature.

I learned to drive in a 52 Chevrolet Deluxe Coupe. My first car was a much used 52 Ford Coupe. My first dependable car was a 57 Studebaker President Hawk.

The futuristic car you describe fit’s the profile of an early 50’s Studebaker. It was said that you couldn’t tell if it was coming or going. Henry J. and Kaiser also had similar models.

The pointed nose car sounds like a Studebaker. My dad's first car he told me was a Model T Ford. My grandfather's first car was an Essex. When I was born my dad and mom had a green 1937 Willys that looked a lot like a really big Volkswagen Beetle. We had that car until 1949 when my parents bought a 1949 Packard.

The first car I REMEMBER WELL was a big old green ford. It had these huge bench seats both front and back and seven people was a squeeze to fit in.

I vaguely remember a turquoise blue smaller car that had these huge fins (or at least it seemed that way) in back. I thought that car was pretty.

Then when I was about 10 or 11 my father started on the long line of station wagons that we had forever. I DO remember that the first station wagon was a genuine "woody".

None of the cars were ever bought new.

1965 Chevrolet Impala 4 door with power steering. It was an automatic & it was our first car. My Mother just learned how to drive at age 45! Before that we walked or took the bus or a taxi cab. I wish I still had that car...it was sold & became a low-rider in 1985. The seats were perfect from the plastic covers & it was a cherry all the way through. I'm crying now.

The first car I remember my Dad mentioning was a 1932 Chev not sure when he owned it though or for how long. I was born in 1958 so it was long gone by that time. The first car I remember is a 1962 Pontiac.

My Mom & Dad's first car was a 1927 Ford Model T.

I've heard some really great stories about it and my Mom drove it too. She's the only one who wrecked it though and hid it in the barn so my Dad wouldn't know. It was his "Baby" before I was born. And back then, there were no such things as Driver Licenses, Insurance or excise tax. They sure had it made back then.

My parents had a four door black Dodge. It was really shiny. Had a lot more space than the cars do now. It was really a pretty car for the 40s.
