Negative minus negative is positive. The answer would be positive 4. Math makes no sense and I hate it. Good luck

If you think a negative minus a negative is kind of confusing, think of it this way: add the opposite.

Instead of -4 - 4, you would think of it as -4 + +4 ... which is 0.

So for your example: -1 - -5, if you add the opposite, is: -1 + +5 = 4

I find thinking of it that way makes it less confusing :) Hope that helps.

A-1--5=6
A-1++5=4
Simple way to put the rule is: Negative minus a negative is equal to postive.
(-)(-) = (+)(+)

well it depends -1- -5=4 so two negatives make a positive. so circle the two negative signs cross them out and write a plus (+) symbol above it and treat it the same as a regular addition problem. -1+ -5= -6
