Your 5.5 gallon can handle those fish, just not all at once. Try adding the shrimp and 2 guppies and then add the rest in 2 weeks.

I wouldn't add any more fish than that to your tank, that will pretty well max it out.

That sounds like a lot of fish for such a small tank. Don't add them all at 1 time I'd just add a few every couple weeks. I have ghost shrimp in with my guppy's and they get along just fine.

Once the tank has been fully cycled, you can start adding fish slowly, usually at a rate of a couple every week or two, until capacity is reached. This slow addition allows time for the relatively small bacteria culture on your filter to grow until it can handle the increased bio-load. If done incorrectly, for example by adding too many fish at once after the cycle, an ammonia/nitrites spike can occur before the bacterial colony can adjust. it is important to stock slowly still and minimally

This method took an average of 4 – 6 weeks, and the fish had to be introduced slowly as opposed to putting all your fish in at the same time.

it is also VERY IMPORTANT that you recognize the (small) size of your tank in proportion to the (quite large) number of fish you want to put in it ..(please dont)..its cruel.. the ghost shrimp will be fine..and the cory cat..but both require very clean, stable, quality water conditions...the catish will need wafers specially designed for bottom dwellers...(they feed mostly at night..nocturnal..so place 1 in later in the evening or after you turn off the lights..check in morning and make sure the pellet or wafer has been eaten..if not, gravel vac and remove it..it will foul the water quickly...also try some blacked zuchini ..they love it.. 4 male guppies are way too many fish..each gets about 2..to 2.5 in. and you could only add ONE guppy in that tank plus theyre very territorial..only will survive (the most dominant alpha male)..if you had a larger tank., you could add one male guppy with 3 females..or else they will chase her(the one or two possibly) to death..cause too much stress...etc... personally id try a small school of shoal of tetras ..many varieties, colors, also most are of a peaceful temperment...(use dark substate and background..they will POP>>esp..w/ the guppy colors..and cory cat!!!.... also, be sure to keep up water changes..make sure same temp..or pretty close..always gravel vac and its a GREAT IDEA TO ADD PLANTS LIVE would be most beneficial and the best for the fish, and you as well..natural behavior will be seen , the shrimp need them too..but its your choice in the end...just be sure to choose the bst possible setup for your fish!!...natural is best.. hope this helps.. good luck with fishkeeping, do lots of research and dont neglect your tank... : ).... take care and hope this isnt too long...!>..

I think that ghost shrimp and guppies fight. Make sure the fish all get along and are not mean.

That is too many fish at one time. You will get a huge amonia jump and that may kill your fish. You may end up with all dead fish. That's also too many fish for that tank.
