Virus protection help...?

Is there any website that i can check if a download has a virus? I really Need to make sure some freeware is safe or not... Just something that scans it... thank you in advance~!

My friends and I all use AVG antivirus protection, www.grisoft.com. I notice a lot of people who use this site, use it also. Probably the best free one out there. Try it.
