Glycerol is a trihydric alcohol. It has three OH groups. You can attach three fatty acids reacting with each of them to form a triglyceride molecule which is simple fat.

Glycerol is a molecule that is found in most lipids. It is an alcohol soluble in ethyl alcohol and water. Each molecule contains 3 carbon 8 hydrogen and 3 oxygen atoms. Glycerin is a pharmaceutic grade of glycerol. Triglycerides are made up of 1 glycerol molecule bonded to 3 fatty acid molecules.
