Yes.....Dr. Condoleezza Rice or Collin Powell perhaps.....but Barack Obama is not close to being that person. Either way it has nothing to do with skin color.

African-Americans can't run as they have to be natural born citizens to hold the office and someone born in Africa can't run
Not ready with the socialist that is running
when a real candidate comes along heck yes America will be ready for a American President. Color isn't the issue
Voting because of race is stupid and doing it makes you a racist

Although I am not voting for Barack Obama... I can't understand for the life of me, why questions like this are still being asked in the year 2007. As a Black female, I am expected to vote for Barack or Hillary. I refuse to vote for either, because of reasons that have nothing at all to do with race or gender. In my opinion... A question like this is asked from only racist bigots. If you are not a racist, then please explain why you or anyone else (other than bigots) would think that "today's" America would have a problem with a Black President... This isn't 1965... This is 2007!!!
F yahoo... Why is Barack Obama running for President if Blacks aren't natural born citizens. You sound way, way stupid!!!

I think that window of opportunity passed, when Colin Powell chose not to run in 1992. I do believe Colin Powell, would have beaten Bill Clinton, if he had chosen to run. I am not saying America is not ready, I just don't think they are ready for Senator Obama.

you make no sense because you are asking two entirely different questions:
1) Is America ready for a black prez
2) is Brack Obama the answer to America's problems.
Decide which question you want to ask, and try again.
Thanks

I like Obama, but does it make sense to say he'd be the first African-American president? His mother was white and his father was Kenyan. It's seems as fair to say that he is white as he is black. If he's the first black president, he'd also be the 44th white president.

Yes we are. But not Barack Obama. Maybe someone with a little more experience under his belt. We are know he can talk the talk but can he walk the walk? I want someone with a little more experience in charge of the red button. We should have elected Collin Powell while we had the chance.

Yes America is ready for an American that happens to be 1/2 black to be President. He is the most honest man running on either side. He is intelligent. He is for stem cell research. He has voted to help Veterans more than any other candidate running and if you don't believe me then check out their voting records like I did. BarackObama.com will tell you what this man stands for, what he has fought for and his voting record on the issues. You will be surprised.

every time i see this issue about black red or the direction ones eyes is slanted i think of
an episode of star trek the old series
where kirk looks dumbfounded when this guy with half white on right side and black on the other is saying his race is more important then the race with white on the left side
and how this planet petty squabbles about our skin color and religious beliefs would appear to a visitor from another world

No, if Barrack was white, he would be a non issue and nobody would be paying attention to him at all. He has no experience, he doesn't even have business experience. What does the guy have to offer? Nothing.
