Prbably because they don't feel it is any of your business and when it is time for them to show, you can figure it out on your own. Maybe the teachers don't care to answer the questions when they come.

That's strange because I remember teachers telling me when I was in school. Of course they won't say anything for the first few months because when you are pregnant it's safer to wait a bit before telling anyone in case you lose the baby.
In this day and age I'm surprised your teachers don't tell the whole class if they are expecting a baby. I wouldn't think there is anything wrong with you politely asking a teacher if she is pregnant and when her baby will be due.
Maybe your teachers just don't feel they have to say anything to their students and that all of you will just figure it out as they get bigger.
I wouldn't get all down and depressed about it. If the group of teachers you have don't tell you guys then I would just forget about it and move on to more important issues.

I am 19 weeks pregnant and showing a lot now. I told my class, but there are many reasons why people wouldn't want to mention it. I miscarried before this pregnancy, so I wanted to wait until after my first trimester. So although I was pregnant at the end of last year, I did not tell my class then.
By the way, no matter what anyone says, it is never ok to ask someone if they are pregnant. Its just too risky! Pregnant people don't usually mind, but what if you ask someone who isn't? Or someone who has just lost a pregnancy? Better off to wait until someone fills you in for sure.

Some schools don't like teachers to talk about their personal lives and that includes marriages and pregnancies. If a teacher is not married and pregnant then some schools really have a problem with that so they tell the teachers not to talk about it. I remember i had a teacher in highschool that wasn't married yet and she was pregnant (about 3 months) and starting to show and I heard the principal tell her that she would set a bad example for all the young girls at the school so to keep the pregnancy to herself until her wedding was done. She got married a month later then announced the pregnancy.

Let me try to explain something for you. With the craziness that happens in schools these days, in particular violence, it is normal to not want to say anything. I work for my local school system and I have to admit that although I don't think the kids would ever try to harm me, being pregnant makes me feel vulnerable. It may not be the reason that those teachers choose not to tell anyone, but it is the reason why I usually choose not to tell. It isn't just the students that I have this fear with... it is while driving in the car, I am afraid someone will crash into me. I don't think I am being paranoid, it is only natural to want to protect the life inside of you.

I AM a teacher and I didn't keep it a secret- once I started to "show" I told them. The entire school has been through my classroom and they were all so excited as were their families. I work in a Title 1 school in a very poor area and was so touched by the sentiments.
I think it depends on the teacher. I love my kids and keep tabs on them long after they walk out of my classroom in kindergarten. NO, I don't tell them where babies come from or how the baby got there- in my school, most of my kids know- YES, even in kindergarten.
So, I think it depends on the teacher and her/his preference. Male teachers who have wives that are pregnant tend to keep it quiet.

I am a teacher and I have never been pregnant, but lots of teachers do not want to mix their personal life with their career. (besides they figure you will know sooner or later anyway). It is also possible that they may think your parents will not like it because they think you may get used to one teacher and have to change teachers in the middle of the year because they are not coming back after giving birth. (I teach first grade and I could see that being a problem)

Well, I teach H.S. and my kids can be so negative sometimes, that I didn't want them to know until it was undeniable. You would never believe the hateful things my students have said to me. Luckily, summer vacation came before I showed. School starts in 5 days though and at 21 weeks, I'm huge! It's gonna be a big deal. (By the way, I did tell a few of my favorite girls, but I told them to keep it a secret.)

Usually people don't announce it until they are out of their 1st trimester. That is the most delicate one due to the chance of miscarriage being higher than with the other two trimesters.
Most teachers will announce it later on when they feel they're out of the "danger zone". Celebrities do the same thing to avoid mourning in the public eye if they have a miscarriage in the first trimester. That's why you don't see celebs admitting it until later on in their pregnancy, way after they've starting showing.

I am a teacher, and I couldn't wait to tell my students about my pending baby. But each person is different. Maybe she's waiting until it's later on in the pregnancy. Maybe she figures you're all smart enough, you'll figure it out. Mayb she's not excited about it. Or maybe she doesn't want to share this intimate detail with her students.
