I have no issue with asking able bodied people to work -

But all people should be able to expect to live off the wages they get even if their job is taking the gum off movie theatre seats - I am talking about basic needs being met not riches galore -

Also it is important for employers to understand I do not owe them my labour any more than I owe a bum on the street a quarter -

The trade or labour for money - is very good etc but - there are too many people working 60 hrs plus at minimum wage who can not make ends meet and who are actually better off being on welfare -

You want workers treat them well enough that they can eat and live a decent life - And remember that the worker controls the production of a company and a nation

Haven't you heard? It's not just the "tree huggers" that are demanding you be green, it's your government! I'm all for it, although I have never hugged a tree in my life! You can ask that all able bodied people work, will you help them find a decent job? Most of the jobs that pay a living wage have been sent out of this country! Sure there are some jobs for college graduates, but there are millions in this country that could not attend college, they had to go to work at the well paying jobs before they all left! This nation has always been a nation of workers, I get darn tired of people implying that Americans won't work, they will, they have & do now when they can get a job!

I don't demand you be "green". Nor do I demand you support welfare. It is the federal government and local governments doing that.

I am "green" because I respect the Earth God gave us. I happily pay into welfare (and support charities) because I feel compassion for the people who use it who need help getting back on their feet. I do not, however, respect the SYSTEM that allows (and sometimes encourages) rampant abuse, but it's the best we've got...

Raising children is work (as you know). Should the government then support those who choose to stay home and raise their children? Or should the government force them to work (often at minimum wage due to the frequent time-off required) and place their children into day-care - to be raised by a stranger? Not everyone has the same options you had.

Not bashing, just pointing out the other side...

Welcome back, by the way.

Why do people have to push their values on others? I've not asked you to be green, that's your business. How many "tree huggers" have asked you to be "green"?

As for asking that all able bodied people work? I think a lot of people want this and I'm sure there are ABLE-BODIED people who are trying to find work but can't. Or that they can't live on minimum wage to support their families.

Why do you have to complain about illegal immigrants but refuse to pay people who do honorable jobs that may not require a degree get paid wages that won't support them or their family?

I think you might need to ask yourself some questions.

I don't feel anyone has the right to force any way of life as long as there are choices.

To address the part of asking all able bodied persons to go to work... I wish more people would ask, I wish stricter enforcement for gov. fraud was in place but for now all I can do is vote and hope.

I'm going to guess, because I don't hug trees, but I appreciate the wood they supply for building houses.

I think the able-bodied people who don't work tend to sit home and not burn up fossil fuels driving to and from work.

Nice guess, huh?

What has one got to do with the other?

Frankly if you love to breathe smog and love tempertatures of over 100 as well as huge storms that is no problem of mine.

Who is it you are asking to work? Most able bodied people I know do work and they work hard. One neighbor just was laid off a few weeks ago but otherwise he works hard. I don't know anyone who is not able bodied who is not working. I know some elderly people and some people in poor health that are not working but, of course, they dont count.

Not all able bodied people CAN work. Some people have mental diseases, have to take care of a sick family, lost their job, need to take care of children etc. We can at least help them until they get a job again. Does someone deserve to starve or lose their home because they lost their job and can not find another.

I demand that all able bodied people work, and if they can't find a real job, hug trees....

Satisfied?

Who the hell said you can't ask that all able-bodied people work? I hereby give you permission to ask that. Now go buy a hybrid and shut up.
