Back in the '80s I made my own home security system.
It worked but talk about WIRES all over the place. I was lucky my wife didn't divorce me before I took it all apart.
(and I even had the damn thing calling phone numbers and using speech to let me know when it tripped. Ahhh, the good ol' days and the Texas Instruments TI-99A)
.

So why are YOU asking? Eh? Fry your notebook?
I deleted some .dll files on my work computer and the thing never worked right afterwards. Even after a computer techie fixed it. I got fired.
This was many years ago.
