Not looking so good as in watery? or oily? When peanut butter sits unused for a while, the peanuts tend to seperate from the oil, giving a sort of oily clear layer above the brown peanutty stuff...Otherwise, look on the cap or bottom of the peanut butter container for an expiration date..Also, if you leave the peanut butter in a cool, shady environment, peanut butter can practically last forever...Hope this helps, and good luck with your dilemma... :)

If it doesnt' look good, when in doubt through it out. However, Penut butter, especially the more artificial types can last years. an un-opened jar can last 10 years or more, however, once you open the jar, it all depends. If it is refrigerated, usually 2 months is a reasonalbe shelf life, but in the pantry, it's unpredictable. If it looks bad, do'nt eat it!

I disagree. Yours is looking good. As for the peanut butter? Throw the old out and start fresh.

Unrefrigerated the cottonseed oil it's cut with will separate from the actual ground peanut material. Takes about three months.

I'd toss it out, btw, stick to organic, better for you.
Peanut Butter:
Unopened: 6-9 months
Opened: 2-3 months, longer in the fridge
