well, as my grandpa used to say:

The world would be a better place if all the men lived on one side of it and all the women on the other side of it and maybe we got together on an island in the middle once a month for a party, then went our separate ways for the rest of the month.
If one month seems too long, consider that any man who has been married for more than a few years would consider getting laid as often as once a month to be a step forward from his present predicament.

no the pains that come are more than offset by the other feelings of love and caring and sharing as well as the physical side -- touching holding hands hugging --- life without a partner is sterile --- some people may be able to cope but most need the companionship friendship and comfort provided by a loved one
