I'm looking at 3 HP comps. I use the laptop for legal work and a bit of gaming. I'm not concerned about high resolution graphics - just want to be able to run Madden at a decent framerate.

Here are the specs of the 3 comps:

Comp #1
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500, 1.66GHz
2GB RAM
GeForce Go 7600 256 MB dedicated Video
WinXP Media Center

Comp #2
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 Processor
2GB RAM
GeForce Go 7600 256 MB dedicated Video
Win Vista Ultimate

Comp #3
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200, 2GHz
2GB RAM
GeForce Go 7400 128 MB dedicated Video
Win Vista Home Premium

Any recommendations?

Thanks
Rob

Comp #1 = $1050.00
Comp #2 = $750
Comp #3 = now sold out. . .

And I hate Vista - but the boss is buying it for my work and I'm sure he'd like the $750 better than the $1050. LOL

I'm currently running:

XP Home
Athlon XP2800+
512 RAM
32 Meg Shared Video

Of course, I pretty much can't play any game made in the last 2 years.

It appears that this 3 year old laptop is about to croak. I want something that will get me through the next 2 years.

BTW, would the 2GB of RAM be more effective in the XP Machine as opposed to the Vista Machine?

You would hardly notice their differences in office applications. The first two would be quite comparable in games because mainly of their powerful Go 7600. Go 7600 has more number of shaders and can easily do more than double 3D marks score in 3D Mark06 compared w/ Go 7400 even if Go 7400 is paired with a faster processor.

I'm a Core 2 Duo convert. I recommend #1.

In my opinion, Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 is the best in this case. It will be great for office use and some gaming.

#1 = middle of the road, but media center's, ugh...but still the winner.

2 = cheap, but weakest processor

3 = best processor, worst video and OS
