It's a long, long way. Doubtful he is conditioned for long hours like that. It has been raining heavily here lately and don't see any end to the rain. It starts snowing in about 5 or 6 weeks. Speed on I-90 is 80 mph, and it's rough in most spots. Motorcycle people get killed on it all the time. Tell him that almost everyone simply trailers the bike to the Black Hills, then rides around there. Don't be on mountain roads after dark there though. The place is full of deer who generally walk on the roads because it is easier. You don't see them as you round the corners on the twisty roads, and people are always smacking into deer there.
Mostly, few people from back East just don't realize how vast the distances are out here and aren't prepared for it. I used to race motorcycles (dirt bikes) and wouldn't want to ride from Ohio to here. And then back.
MapQuest says a roundtrip will be 40 hours of actual riding.

I feel you girl!! Tell him exactly how you feel so he does not think you are just being silly. You guys want to go to that motorcycle thing they do evrey year right!!. If you do not want to let him go a lone then take a plane and meet him there. I know the fun of it is to ride all the way in the motorcycle but I know (from experience) that you are not going to enjoy the ride, and as a result he might not enjoy it either.

I think it would be best for you to try SHORT rides on the bike FIRST - to just jump on his bike and try and do a long ride would be uncomfortable for BOTH of you. Start by just SITTING on the bike - then ride around the block, then to the store, then a bit farther and so on. He SHOULD understand and be willing to help you with this - it would be awesome if you can overcome your fear - - there is really nothing like riding - - I myself prefer riding my own, but snuggling up real close to a nice hunk of a hubby is great too!! GOOD LUCK and I hope it all works out!!

If you don't want to ride then don't. It sounds a little like a phobia that was brought on by the tragedy in your life. Your husband should respect your wishes and not press the issue. You should not do something that terrifies you and your husband should not push it.
You should explain it to him just like you explained it in your post. Hopefully he listens with his heart.
Good luck!!!!!

yes tell him to go alone. follow your first mind. if your scared dont go. my husband is obssessed with his motorcycle. he acts like he is married to his bike instead of me. iam scared also to get on it and because of that he leaves me at home all day everyday to ride his bike with his friends. i got tired of it so i let him have his bike and friends. we are now seperated. iam not telling you to sepereate or leave but what iam saying that it did not work that way for me.

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.* Do the thing that you fear to do the most and you thereby overcome the paralysis of your irrational fear within yourself.* Do it, Do it, Go for it, Don't let fear dominate and control your Life.* Remember Life is just once around the track.* Enjoy it.***

If you are truly that scared, then don't do it.
However, I concur with BikerChick--ease yourself into it. You might actually enjoy it, too.
