I wrote a novel, but my laptop got a virus on it so I called HP (The makers of my laptop) and followed the guy's instructions and put in a disk that restored my computer to factory settings. I was in a hurry at the time and totally forgot about my novel, I remembered it like five minutes after I hung up the phone! My novel is R E A L L Y important to me, I worked really hard on it. Is there anyways I can get it back??? Please Help!

Those lousy technicians just made your life miserable. You are back to square one. Just like a new PC with nothing much in it except what the system builder put in.

You could have tried messaging the top geeks here for help. This repair procedure works better and leaves all files intact:

Don't do anything with the computer. Take it to a respectable repair shop and they should be able to get it. Geek Squad does not qualify! Most big change stores don't have the people with the know how to do that kind of recovery. Call around and educate yourself on how hard drives work. That will be your best chance.

You can recover with the help of 3rd Party Softwares. I would strongly recommend you to visit nearest Computer Shop for the same.
