my mother board currently has a athlon 64 bit 3000+ can my motherboard do it or do i need a new motherboard

no it cannot .. it has a socket 754 and u need a socket 939 or am2 for dualcore ...

No your montherboard cant support Dual-Core i have the same motherboard as you do if you want a Dual-core you have to get another motherboard that support it like the Mach speed MSNV 939 i got this motherboard with the AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor for 134.48 good deal you can take all your stuff from the motherboard you have and put it in the new one but one thing is that u have to get a new video card PCI Express X16 check it out on www.tigerdirect.com its a good deal

No. It is a socket 754 mother board. The X2 is a socket AM2 processor. You need a new MB

You will need a new motheboard. This site will give you some Asus mother board choices showing which are Duel core and also which ones support SLI (two gforce graphic cards running as one).
