their sexuality? If they were all business at work and discreet about their private lives, would their sexual orientation matter? Do the problems start when the agenda of a party makes a person "stay in the closet" while outwardly supporting an agenda against homesexuals? If we are all created equal, why don't we act that way?

I agree with most of the answers you received. I could care less about the representatives sexuality. But, when they act in such a way as to fight every bit of legislation aimed at gay individuals to hide their sexuality, it's a lie. That is the sign of a person with no moral fiber. People keep confusing sexuality with morals. A gay person doesn't lack morals just because they are gay.

My Rep or Senators could be Human Torch Flamers for all I care as long as they weren't too hypocritical or greedy or have voting records like Larry Craig. People's private lives should be just that until they make them an issue by attacking others. Larry Craig is a walking incitement to Hate Crimes, which he feels shouldn't be illegal.

And, call me picky, but I don't consider soliciting in Public Areas to be part of someone's "Private Life." I mean, geez, can't a guy even take a dump in peace anymore?

Overt Op, you've put your finger on the true purpose of Morality, which is to make people forget about Right and Wrong.

If I agreed with their views on political issues I would accept it. I could care less. I do not have a problem with gay people. Being gay does not effect one's ability to be a good Senator or Representative. The point is the media and government should stay out of people's sex lives. I agree that if they were going to gay strip clubs and such one would not get a very good idea of their character. If they had a partner though that is their choice .

Right you are, Ken.

I could really care less WHAT the sexual preference of my legislators are, as long as they do their job. That goes for ANY profession!!

But you have to admit, it's really sweet when one party acts like it occupies some kind of "moral high ground" and then they start dropping like flies from any number of sexual indiscretions.

Doesn't it seem like it's always the ones who make the most anti-sex/anti-gay noise are the ones that get caught in restrooms and soliciting prostitutes?

i care when their activities are made public. scandals are rampant as the can be made public anytime. their 'private' lives seldom remain private and they abuse their office.

McGreevey use his position to coerce another and he used
his position to give the man a job that involved our
national security.

Bill Clinton for getting a ******** in the oval office.
he made a mockery of our white house

Mark Foley using his position to force homosexal
advances to teenage pages

Vitter calling prostitutes to dress him in daipers

Barney Frank admitted a lengthy relationship with
a male hooker who ran a bisexual prostitution service
out of Frank's apartment

Investigators found $90000 in cash in a freezer in
Jefferson's home in 2005.

Gary Studds did not even go to jail for contributing
to the delinqacy of a minor...

all these people have transgressed and i do not care about their political party, they should all receive punishment as they weaken america. anyone who breaks the law should be subject to the law. yet name, money and political party determines if justice is served or if it is ignored. or if they are excused or defended. it just doesn't seem logical to me.

i think all politicians should be judged by the same yardstick and NO excuses allowed. this is why our system is so messed up. we all deserve honesty and should hold our leaders to and we should demand that they be held to a higher standard than the common citizen for they have the duty to keep our laws as well as the responsibility to make them. they should not be above the law regardless of name or party.

They personal life is really nobody's business.
Whether they are in the closet or out.

The issue would be if they lied about their private activity -- as opposed to simply refusing to comment. Or if they were massively hypocritical to the point where their statements could not be trusted.

I have no problem with gay people, politicians or not, and honestly I think police ought to have better things to do than trolling men's rooms.

That said, Craig is a hypocrite who deserves to be exposed as such.

I don't care a bit about anyone else's sexuality. It's not important to me. What is important is whether or not someone is an honest, good person.
Hypocrites suck (no pun intended).

Define outrageous...

What if they have a "domestic partner" which accompanied the rep to functions? What constitutes outrageous?
