Bannister has been the best starter in the rotation by far since late June and could very well be our #1 guy next year. Meche is still the second best starter on the team. He'd be the best if he could find his control again. His stuff can be filthy, but he's been wild in the strike zone lately which is no good. It would help a little, too, if the offense would give him some run support. That Nunez kid looks really good and should be a solid #3 for us next season. As far as Greinke, I like him better in the bullpen. He can't seem to recover from a bad inning when he's starting games. Out of the bullpen, he knows how long he'll have to pitch and what he needs to do and since there's no chance of him going 6 or 7 innings he can really get his fastball cranked up. If this Kyle Davies guy turns out to be as good as Dayton thinks he'll be, we should have a pretty good rotation with Bannister, Meche, Nunez and Davies. If Greinke does end up as a full time starter again next year, we've got a pretty solid - not great, but solid - starting five for 2008. Add in the young talent in Gordon, Butler, Teahan, Gathright and Pena with a nice balance of veterans in Grudzielanek and DeJesus and then a bullpen thats been pretty good with Riske, Gobble, Soria and possibly Greinke and I think we'll be looking at a pretty good team next year.

"Kansas City Royals"

This Q was ask over a month ago, I said then that Bannister and not Meche was the Royals best starter.

If Zack Greinke will learn to pitch inside effectively and get a little movement on his fast ball rather than have it straighten out on him. He will be darn near impossible to hit.

With proper support , it seems Bannister can win for the Royals . He also showed improvement and believe he will be a stalwart on the staff for years to come.
