I want to be an actress and I try to find auditions for films in numerous websites, but every film I submit to, I have to give them my mom's credit card number and pay like 3 or 4 dollars just so I could have a chance to audition. But my mom won't allow that. She doesn't trust them, because she's afraid that they're going to charge more. She thinks that this whole thing is a scam. So is this true? And do they at least accept money order? Help me?

Hold on. There are some that you have to pay for that are legit, but you still have to be careful. You didn't say what sites... You can pay a fee to subscribe to Backstage which is completely legit however if you don't live in an area where it has a lot for you then it's not worth it. You can search for free on that site however it won't give you all the audition info unless you're a subscriber. You may be able to see enough of the info in the free search to find out the rest on your own, just do an internet seach using key words from what you know.

As for ActorsAccess, same thing. Yes, if you're paying per submission that can get expensive! However, there's no charge for submitting hard copies (mailing your headshot instead of submitting electronically) and again, if you do not live near where the project is then it's not worth it! www.actorsaccess.com was setup by Beakdown Services which is the service that EVERY legit agent in Hollywood uses. It's may be expensive, but it's not a scam. If you live in an area where there are a lot of potential jobs for you, then pay for the showfax subscription. $68 for one year then you can submit on actorsaccess to your hearts content during that time for free. HOWEVER, if you live in an area where there's not a lot for you then it's just not worth it. Same as with backstage just see if you can get more info on your own and submit a hard copy. Showfax is how nearly every actor in Hollywood gets their sides for auditions. Sides are pages from the script. Basically what you will be expected to read at the audition.

I do not blame your mother for not wanting to put her credit card out there, but this is likely new territory so not knowing which sites to trust is completely understandable. She should really be the one looking at these things. Why don't you give her this information and bring up all the websites in questions and have her look at them and if she's not comfortable then I'm sorry. There's certainly nothing anyone can do for you.

One other option is to bypass these sites and get an agent. That is if you have the training and resume to back you up. http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application?origin=page1.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=AgentInformation
Send them your headshot, resume and cover letter stating that you're seeking representation and wait to see if they contact you. Then THEY will be the ones to look for auditions for you and they will submit your photos at their cost, etc. What you will have to pay up front is the cost of getting the photos, resumes, postage, etc. The agent gets paid 10% on the back end when you get jobs.

good luck!

The only legit website I know of where you pay is Actors Access. It's $2 per submission, but you must have a headshot and resume on file - which is free, but if you don't have a headshot or resume, there's really no point in submitting, so I would say it isn't necessarily geared towards the beginning actor. I've heard that LA Casting on the west coast is also decent, but I have no expereince with it.

I imagine the websites you're talking about are places like explore talent (that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head, but I know there's lots out there!). Basically these websites take casting notices from other places and charge you to submit to them. All of the notices are for things you could actually find and submit for yourself, they just consolidate them all into one place. So they're not necessarily a scam, they're just making you pay for something you can do yourself. Principal casting for network tv shows and big budget films will always be done directly through talent agencies, so the notices you see on these website for those big shows will most likely be for extra parts or non paid work like student films. So, it's definitely not worth the money.

1.Potential probably mean you have the nerve to actually stand out, most people got nervous at the audition and standed there like a unmovable human. If you can audition there without getting nervous or without shaking then that some potential. Talent is something you have, like singing, dancing, modeling ETC. It not just Potential and Talents it also Looks and Appearance keep that in mind. 2.Well, you have to look asian, if you're not the chances of you getting in are kind of impossible, but somehow it may be also possible idk i never seen a non-asian got into yet. Sometime SM doesn't choose you by looks, if they see you rlly stand out by your talent, then looks to them are the last thing on the lists, but if your actually rlly good looking and have no talent (idk why i said that) your chance are probably quiete possible you say?, Another thing is weight, you might have to go on strict diet if SM force u too if they think your too... IDK how to explain it. Probably they don't want their idol to look too fat or too chubby they want a good body. 3.Snsd baby maybe, it rlly something that you can catch up with. 4.If you think your good enough and your friend say so then i would probably give you 65%-85% Height doesn't rlly matter so i think your good enough :D sorry if i forgot to list some thing

You never pay for legitimate auditions. If you are paying, it's a scam. Never give your mother's credit card number to anyone online. They are probably a scam, your mom will get very upset if you ruin her credit, by giving her credit card numbers to scam artists.
