My boyfriends sister and mom are going out of town this weekend. They have a really badold beaten up car so they will be renting a car. When they told my boyfriend that they're renting a car he volunteered to let them borrow my car for the weekend. But my car is brand new. Its a 2007 Eclipse and it has 22 crome rims.

Here's the reason why I said no, they are very careless with everything. I mean one time we loaned them our bikes and they gave them back broken and dirty and we had to spend money to get them fixed. And about 2 years ago I was lending his sister (how was 17 at the time) my 98 honda for a few days and she got chocolate milkshake all over the floor and ceiling and didn't even apologize. And she gave it back dirty and on empty.

So he says I'm over reacting about not lending them my new car. Do you think I was over reacting or would you let them borrow your brand new car?

He wont lend out his truck because we need to fix a hoop on it. It's lifted and a hoop to hold the shock snapped. And besides they don't want to drive a lifted Silverado that gets 12 MPG

Your b/f is out of line volunteering your stuff without your permission. It is not 1/2 his stuff like it might be if you were married- it is 100% yours and he has not rights to it.

Give an excuse for now- insurance, you need the car, it is scheduled for service, whatever, and keep it.

When things cool off a bit, explain that it bothered you that he would offer your stuff without talking to you about it first. Tell him you understand that he was raised with different attitudes about this, but you were raised this way and it makes you uncomfortable. It is not about whose attitudes are right or wrong, but about respecting each other and respeciting what makes the other uncomfortable.

I dont think your overracting at all.... they apparently have no respect for other peoples property. Knowing that they dont why should you go out of your way to help them and they didnt appreciate it they proved it last time they borrowed your car. If someone can no show you respect then they dont deserve any shown to them. Its not your responsibility to provide them transportation and your boyfriend shouldnt have volunteered YOUR belongings without consulting you bc that makes YOU look like a jerk and you shouldnt feel that way. If you know from past experience that they dont respect you then I wouldnt do it either especially when its brand new! dont do it! and make your man buy you something hahha that was wrong of him.

It's your car, I would be the same position you are. You have already had bad experiences with them borrowing your things, so let them ruin someone else's car, and they will be charged for any damage they cause to a rental. I think it was a good idea for you to say no.

Where does your boyfriend get off lending YOUR car? They reason they have a crappy car is because they don't know how to take care of their stuff.

Do not lend them your car, no explanation needed. Just say no.

No way. You did the right thing. It's new. It's YOURS. It's nice. You are paying for it. You are in no way commited to letting them borrow your car when there's is not up to par. Your boyfriend was wrong to volunteer your car in the first place. Hope I helped =]

Okay, HELLO?! The drive a nasty ratty car, right? So if they screw up your car (and they would, since pigs don't change their slop), how will they buy you a new one to replace it? If you did lend them your car, you would have to charge them the same amount that you paid for it in the first place, so that When they f*cked it up, you could buy a new one to replace it! Not only that, but your BF is so presumptuous that if I were you, I would kick him so hard in his backside, they would probably have to surgically remove my FOOT!

No, I don't think you are over reacting and I don't think you should let them borrow your car. They proved themselves unable to handle the responsibility more than once. If he wants to loan them a car, let him loan them his. He had no right to offer yours without talking to you about it first. Stick to your guns. You work hard to keep that new car nice and shouldn't feel obligated to loan it to someone who won't respect that.

Stick to your guns, Luv.... 1,It's YOUR car, to do with what you choose... 2. Let them get their own good car, if they can rent a car, they can make car payments.. 3 . Get rid of the boyfriend, as he has no respect for you.... Good Luck..

i wouldn't either baby girl. look new or old it's still your car. my car is too personal for me to lend out. that's just how it is. your bf step over the line by offering something that is not his. it's just disrespectful. if someone wants to borrow (not have) your underwear, what would you say. same things applies here. it's just too personal.

judging buy past run-in's with these people and letting them use your things, i would say "no way" to letting them use your stuff, whatever that might be. not only that, but a car is a car. it's not like they want to cup of sugar. you work hard to have nice things and if they can't appreciate that, then they shouldn't be able to use them.
