Simple, a male has a pointed anal fin while the female has a triangular shaped anal fin. When the female is pregnant she will get big and fat like she is going to "pop".

The main difference is the anal fin. Males have a rod-shaped one and the females have a fan-shaped ones.
A pregnant one will get really fat and have a gravid (black) spot above its anal fin.
