Because such as the war in iraq is like taking too much of US Americans time. Such as Us Americans are so focus in iraq we, forgot to tell Asian countries,and cities such as south africa to make more maps. If Us Americans use money to make more map,than everyone in US america would have a map. Such as and would see where america is. Cause the only thing a U.S american with out a map can do is point to the ground.

I think that the majority of the time schools focus on just the US (states and capitols), so when some are shown a world map they have a hard time locating it.

That's truly amazing...and, I think, a bit overrated. You mean to tell me that 20% of the population cannot find their own country on a map?
I am a citizen, and I have no recollection of being given this poll! "They," whoever "they" is, don't truly speak for the whole nation.

probably because 1 out of 5 americans are not americans at all.... and since they can't speak english why should they be able to find america on a world map????

If you think about it, it's really not that hard to find the US...Everysince we were little we've had those map puzzles and little anecdotes about which state is where you can seriously tell me that you can see the differences in shapes???? I think it's a retention thing for those people....

Because our appointed leaders would rather have us spend all of our money on bombs, bad music, fast food, and viagra, rather than a proper eduacation.
I would LOVE to see the government have to hold a bake sale to raise money for a new stealth bomber!
