Freedom of religion, speech, press, petition, and assembly works pretty well for that, doesn't it. Just use logic. They can't just ban a color because some gang wears it. The gang could switch to any other colors and it's no use troubling the students and giving gangs more attention anyway. Make sure everyone planning to do this is a little organized. Try deciding on a specific day to get as many people as you can to wear red or something. Good luck. It's a good cause, even if it's just clothes.

The first amendment is really short and available on the internet. The whole Constitution is short and available on the internet. I think you should be more upset with your school that you were never told to read the Constitution.

The school administrators are within their legal rights to have a dress code, so you have no legal rights to stand on here. It would be better if a group of responsible students asked for a meeting to sit down with the principal and discuss this before having a protest like this. Hopefully, either the principal agrees that you can wear red, or he/she convinces you that this will really help stop gang activity in the school.

It could well come under your freedom of expression under article 19 of the human rights act, though I believe schools may reserve the right to impose a dress code upon their students.

You are right to protest it though. You could just as easily say black is a gang colour (the IRA often wore black) or combat fatigues are a gang colour (many Columbian gangs wear camoflauge) Good on you!

Red is the recognized color to wear on Friday to support the Troops. Just tell them that your mom said so.

my kids go to public school and HAVE to wear uniforms, so be thankful your school hasn't done that yet - you have no case - deal with it. NEXT!
