Some people think that Joe Torre is babying him, and he is ready for the rotation in order to help the Yankees in the playoff race.
Some people think that he still needs to learn in order to become a starter.
Personally, I am impressed by his performance so far, but he hasn't pitched a whole lot, so it is a little too early to say anything.
What are your opinions?

There is a lot to like when you look at Joba Chamberlain and his future, but the future is not now. He is a 21 year old kid that could very likely be a star but it will take time to bring him along. As of right now he has a total of 10 innings pitched in the big leagues and Torre will continue to bring him along slowly. If the Yankees are going to do anything this year Mussina, Pettitte, and Clemons will have to step it up and get them there. You don't put that responsibility on a 21 year old kid.

Joba will replace Mariano as the closer of the team not start for them. He throws too hard to keep that up for 6 or 7 innings. Either way he can't fulfill either role this year. It would be way too much pressure on him. Let him finish the year on a good note and come into Training Camp next year and switch into a spot that would satisfy him. The Yankees are down right now and if he starts and has one bad start he loses all his confidence and a lot of fan support. Let him stay where he is and let him pan out before you force him into a role.

Phil Hughes is my widespread and likewise the single i've got faith would be maximum powerful. Ian Kennedy is the main polished of the three getting into this season, he does ring a bell in me of a youthful Mike Mussina yet with a lots extra beneficial fastball. yet i've got faith he could be the third terrific from the bunch, yet nevertheless third terrific would be getting fantastically much 20 wins in line with season and can have an era around 3.25 to 3.50. And Joba, the specific one, he could be left interior the bullpen so he could be triumphant the terrific nearer interior the historic previous of baseball, Mariano Rivera. he would be #2 in simple terms using fact Hughes could be the ace of the workers for years. yet #2 is going to get you forty plus saves and an era around 2.00 and nicely over nine strikeouts in line with inning. Any way you place it if those males replace right into a million/2 what they're think to the Yankees would be spending numerous money on those 3 males for destiny years and we are going to see numerous #31, #sixty two and #sixty 5 jerseys in new Yankee Stadium.

Not this year, but it is a big possibility for next season.

He has thrown a lot, including playing in winter ball before the season began. He is still a young kid, and asking him to go from a starter to reliever and then back to starter is unfair.

He is fulfilling a big role in being the bridge to Mariano, but I forsee he playing a huge role in the Yankees' rotation in the future.

thats a tough one! hes doing great in his role now. hes definately shutting things down for other teams and helping us win games. he might be a good starter. but what if they put him in as a starter and he loses it? know what i mean? not saying he will, but what if? i think thats the thinking of joe torre. mariano rivera is one of the best pitchers ever but hes a closer. get what i mean? i say we give joba a FEW starts and see what he can do. if it doesnt work then put him back where he was and get him back to helping us win games.

My feeling is , they are taking it slow with this guy. The reason being , the Yanks have always been known for not bringing up their OWN talent,,, mainly Pitching.. so I believe that in this case they see a POTENTIAL Big Game pitcher... he seems to have all the skills of someone that will be just that.....

no next year maybe its too late in the season and the yankees are giving the mariners and the red sox a run for their money so if they keep him in the bullpen good things could come for them

Not yet. He's filling an important role in the bullpen right now.

He's probably already thrown more innings this year than ever before. Best not to push it.
