Assuming you are interested in the philosophical aspects, I think the point of all four activities is to understand our experience and to develop good answers to the ultimate Q's like Who am I? What am I? Why am I here? Where did I come from and where am I going? What is this universe I inhabit ? What is my role in and my relationships to that universe. How can I make the most of the existential situation? The corollary Q's are endless, but you get the main idea. At first its all about the "I" and the self , but then it turns to understanding the "other", nature, and to God.
