I honestly can't see how people would put him in their top 10. Check this out:

Michael Jordan:
13 Seasons (as a Bull)
6 NBA Titles
6 NBA Finals MVPs
5 League MVPs
1 Defensive Player of the Year honors
10 Scoring Titles (a DECADE of dominance)

5 NBA Titles
3 NBA Finals MVPs
3 League MVPs
4 Assist Titles
2 Steal Titles

Larry Bird
13 Seasons
3 NBA Titles
2 NBA Finals MVPS
3 League MVPs (in a row)
1 Rookie of the Year honors

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
20 Seasons
6 NBA Titles
2 Finals MVPs
6 League MVPs
2 Scoring Titles
1 Rebound Title
4 Block Titles
1 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year honors

Wilt Chamberlain
14 Seasons
2 NBA Titles
1 NBA Finals MVP

Kobe Bryant:
11 NBA Seasons
3 NBA Titles (that was LED by SHAQ!)
0 NBA Finals MVPs
0 League MVPs
0 Defensive Player of the Year honors
2 Scoring Titles
0 Steal Titles
0 Assist Titles
0 Rebound Titles
0 Block Titles
0 Rookie of the Year honors
0 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year honors
0 ESPY Best Basketball Player honors
2 All-Star MVPs (lol....That's a joke)
0 Times he's scored 40 points in a NBA Finals game

Anyways, Great performances (in the NBA Finals & Play-Offs), championships, stat titles, and great player awards (honors) is what DEFINES a GREAT PLAYER. Kobe Bryant LACKS at all of those things.

KOBE BRYANT SUCKS!

caballer89 & doomspawn5,
you guys are BOTH morons. Anyways, doomspawn5, I never said that it was all about NBA Titles. So stop putting words in my mouth you JACKASS!.......and caballer89, your point was RIDICULOUS. How was Kobe doing better then those guys when he was playing with Shaq and he didn't win NO NBA Finals MVPs, Scoring Titles, League MVPs, & etc? You sound very DUMB! And another thing, the point you TRIED to make is really saying that Kobe is NOTHING without Shaq (which is true). Those players were great by themselves. They didn't NEED anyone to make them great!

LAY OFF THE CRACK!

No. In terms of greatness he is nowhere near the top 10! For the Top five players it's always like this Jordan and the top two rivalries in NBA history:

1. Michael Jordan
2. Wilt Chamberlain
3. Bill Russell
4. Magic Johnson
5. Larry Bird

Add to that list are:

6. Oscar Robertson - (How do Kobe compare with the basketball master?)
7. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
8. Elgin Baylor - a more finesse scorer than Kobe.
9. George Mikan - He's not called Mr. Basketball for nothing. He caused some of the major changes in the rules of Basketball.
10. Jerry West - Why not? his likeness would not have been used as the NBA's logo if he wasn't great.

I don't see anybody ranking Kobe over these guys unless they are die hard fanatics!

Kobe is not even in the top 20 ever. The top 10 goes like this.

1. Michael Jordan- no explanation needed.
2. Bill Russell- If you win 8 championships in a row and 11 in your career, you are in the top 5 no questions asked.
3. Wilt Chamberlain- A guy who can average 50 points in a season AND get Assist Title is amazing..
4. Kareem Abdul Jabaar- He was amazing and is considered the most dominate big man ever.. I think not, he is still behind Wilt and Russell.
5. Magic Johnson- He was a magician on the court, he always made his teamates around him better and plus he was quite tall for such a versitile point guard standing at
6'9 I think.
6. Larry Bird
7. Oscar Robertson
8. Jerry West
9. Gervin
10. Hakeem Olojuwon

to me allen iverson has done more than kobe in the 11 years they have been playing
iverson 4 scoring titles and 1 mvp
kobe 2 scoring titles and 0 mvp
and if iverson had shaq then they would have at least 5 championships

I agree with you statistics wise, but Kobe is on my 5. The guy can score when ever he wants to.You cannot say Kobe sucks because I didn't see you score 81pts in a game, or win the Slam Dunk Contest your rookie season, or even when the All-Star Game MVP. That Kobe sux crap that you post on every answer gets old and lame. Hang It Up.

Kobe is in the top 5 of active players but not of all-time. I'm feeling kind of generous today and put him in the top 25 all-time.

You used a double negative and the very next sentence called someone dumb.

By the way: skill wise, which is what BASKETBALL is about not media and hype (coughcoughMJcoughcough), Kobe is a top five basketball player of all time.

Well the answer is a big emphatic HELL NO. Kobe isn't even top 20 all-time, and the praise and hype he is given is disgusting.
