It depends on the source of information but the best estimate is between 15,000 and 20,000 people were forced on the ""Trail of Tears" and about 25% of them died on the way.

a little over 15,000...that was pretty devastating for the cherokees. native americans have suffered alot of lost, and nobody takes the blame for it...

At least an equal number of Creeks, Choctaws, Seminoles, etc., were also sent west.
