Antonamasia - Highly recommend this band. Check them out on MySpace. They are a metal band that draw influences from metalcore, but they are also very melodic.

The two most successful today are Evanescence and No Doubt(I'm assuming they're still together, and Stefani isn't all-pop now). There's also The Distillers, Lacuna Coil, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I think Garbage is still together.
