Life is but a game. We live for thousands of years passing through many bodies as we go. The game is such that we need to find out what our purpose is. If we do and we accomplish that purpose the game ends, if not we move on to the next body and the process starts again.

Well that is some question, isn't it?
I suppose that starts with whether you are religious or not. If you are then the answer to that is pretty well determined.
If you are not, well, ummhhhhh...
I don't think much of slogging it away through school, working out life, getting married, producing sprogs, growing old, retiring, being incapable of looking after yourself is much of a game - do you?
'They' say life is what you make it... is it or is it helped by the family/status you are born to? I have no doubt that money and status helps a lot.
In the end... well unless someone has made a miraculous discovery, we all die.
So I suppose with this kind of finality money makes no difference in the end. However, I do think it makes a difference to the kind of life we can lead and perhaps help to extend our lives that bit longer.
Boy, is this a depressing question...
I think the 'game' is what others makes it for you.
Me, personally, I cannot be arxxed with idiots who think game playing is a good sport.
Give us a break. Call a spade a shovel.

There are two ways to look at this.
1. Yes. Life's a game. Everyone is a pawn in everybody elses game, or a King/queen on their own board.
2. No. Life's not a game. You make a mistake, and you can't just replay.

Life is a game.
The rules are simple. You have a choice of 3 paths.
1. A good person who works to leave those he meets and the world a better place.
2. Those who try to make their own lives better without care for the wider world.
3 Those who try to make the world and those they know worthless.
After picking a path. you will have several restricitions
1. you must find a way to feed /clothe / shelter yourself
2. you must find a way to spread your genitic code
3. you must find a way to give yourself as much happiness and as little sadness as you can.
The winner of life meets all 3.
You lose if you can't do any of the 3.
The rest of life is challenges, mind games, logic puzzles, and mini games ( ex - new jobs, manipulative familys, how to strech 300$ for 3 months, and the dateing game).

If life is a game, then it's missing several critical things:
1) A manual.
2) Tutorial level.
3) Difficulty setting.
4) Save/Load option.
5) EXIT button!
...and some cheat codes could be kind of usefull...

Yes - much like a computer game - gather all the clues and then you can get to the next level.

If it is a game then it isn`t a very amusing one, given the incredible amout of needless suffering in the world.
However, if you mean, `are there rules by which we are wisest to conduct ourselves to get on in life`, then yes. There are rules which one would be wise to follow.

My guess is it can be treated as a non-zero sum game, as they are able to model many (social) interactions.

Whether it is/isn't a game cannot be proven while fully immersed within a postulated "game world".
