I am making a cd for a friend of good musical songs. I just got started in mudical theatre so i dont know the popular plays. He likes pop music and his favorite musical is zana dont!. Are there any that are comparable meaning same up beat tempo and good lyrics etc?

It's hard for me to know exactly what your friend would like, but you can certainly do a bit of research by looking here:

Unfortunately Zanna Don't is the only show that Alexander Dinelaris and Tim Acito have done according to Stage Agent so I can't recommend anything similar since I'm not familiar with the show.

Maybe some songs from Rent, Time Warp from Rocky Horror, Altar Boyz (maybe the mega mix?), Something from The Boy From Oz, Footloose, Grease, Hairspray, High Fidelity, Agony from Into The Woods, Jersey Boys, The Producers (Keep It Gay, or Springtime For Hitler?), Spamalot, Spring Awakening (just get him this whole CD), Urinetown (It's a Priveledge to Pee), and The Wedding Singer?

Les Miserables is wonderful for pop-ish but still meaningful songs, and the story is beautiful. Once on This Island has some great ones, such as Waiting for Life and Forever Yours, both of which are beautiful. Also, Little Shop of Horrors is just awesome and so is Urinetown (Act 1 Finale is my favorite from that one.)

Taylor the Latte Boy is an exceedingly exciting track. mountaineering Uphill or i will Do greater helpful Than That form the final 5 Years are the two upbeat and exciting. For a youthful place, try i understand issues Now from Into The Woods.

Wicked is an exellent musical. Rent is also awesome for that style. Fiddler on the roof is good, too. Email me, and I'll be thinking of more, cause I know they'res tons.
